Access and recreation

We own and manage 57,000 hectares of land around our reservoirs, covering some of the most vibrant and diverse natural environments in England. We strive to achieve a balance between encouraging public access and protecting water quality, wildlife and habitats.

Although we actively encourage people to enjoy our sites, we want them to do so safely. If you're visiting an area with open water, please take the time to read about reservoir safety. And if you're out walking, watch out for Giant Hogweed, which can grow along footpaths and riverbanks.

See here for recreation sites and bathing waters in your area.
