United Utilities provides water and sewage services to seven million people across the North West of England. It's a big job and a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly for our customers.
From operating our pipes and improving water quality, to embracing new technologies and safeguarding the local environment – whether you're in our head office or out on site, there's always plenty going on. Our apprenticeship programmes is a job with training which allows you to earn while you learn first-hand how we make this happen.

An apprenticeship is the springboard to your future
As an apprentice you can earn while you learn, gaining hands on experience in areas of the business relevant to your role. With a range of award-winning roles on offer, you’re bound to find your future career.
As well as gaining skills essential to your role, you will:
- Have support from mentors.
- Be given a variety of personal development opportunities.
- Together with gaining Ofsted recognised qualifications you will obtain industry leading skills and the experience you’ll need for your career.
- You’ll spend time experiencing different areas of the business that are relevant to your role, setting you up for a long term career with us.
- You’ll have the opportunity to take part in team challenges for National Apprentice Week and get involved with the North West apprentice network.
We were rated "good" by Her Majesty’s Ofsted Inspectors in August 2018.
Inspectors were particularly impressed with the ‘unwavering’ commitment of leaders and managers and the ‘exceptional facilities and resources’ at our dedicated technical training centre.
