United Utilities to upgrade sewer network in Burneside

United Utilities is holding a public exhibition so local residents can find out more about its planned sewer upgrades in Burneside.

The North West’s water company will be upgrading the sewer network in the village by increasing the size of 740m of pipes in the area and building a new pumping station.

These improvements will help to reduce the occurrence of localised sewer flooding within the village during heavy rainfall that also impacts the River Kent.

On Thursday 22 June, the company is hosting a drop-in session at the Bryce Institute in Burneside from 1pm-7pm.

Work is set to start on site in October 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.    It comes as the company recently revealed that is has been able to successfully bring forward £900m of investment in the next two years to help improve river health right across the North West.
