- build a network fit for the future, fixing leaks and replacing old pipes and mains
- improve the quality of rivers by reducing storm overflow spills by 60% over the decade to 2030
- protect and enhance over 500km of rivers and improve the North West’s bathing waters
- strengthen the sewer network against increased rainfall to reduce flooding of homes and businesses
- support 30,000 jobs and attract investment into the region
Chris Borradaile, Director of Wastewater Services at United Utilities, said: “This is an exciting time to join our wastewater operations and a great opportunity for those looking for a fulfilling career while playing a key part in a business that has started delivering on its most ambitious investment in a century.
“New recruits will not only be part of transformative projects right across the North West, but they will have the chance to build a career for life, enjoy comprehensive training, and will be supported by the wider wastewater team.”
United Utilities, the only North West FTSE 100 company, is one of the largest employers in the region with 7,000 staff.
New recruits enjoy a generous annual leave package of 26 days, which increases to 30 days after four years of service (increasing by one day per year), in addition to 8 bank holidays. A competitive pension scheme includes up to 14% employer contribution, 21% combined.
Employees also enjoy a comprehensive healthcare plan through a company-funded scheme, gym and wellness benefits, salary finance, car/cycle to work schemes, enhanced parental leave as well as a performance-related bonus scheme.
Chris Borradaile added: “We are pleased to be providing a massive boost to the regional economy by creating jobs that matter to us, our customers, and the environment. We’re building new teams right across the region to deliver on our promise to customers to build a greener, stronger and healthier North West.”
