United Utilities invites residents to learn more about Alsager project

04 Dec 2025

United Utilities is offering the public the chance to find out more about its plans to improve water quality in Alsager with a community drop in event on Tuesday 9 December.

This second opportunity to learn more about the scheme follows the delivery of a new 120m3 stormwater storage tank at its construction site off Cresswellshawe Road over the last week, with connection and reinstatement works to continue into 2026.

The tank will cut the number of times that the storm overflow in the area operates during periods of heavy rainfall. United Utilities is working from the Wood Park car park off Cresswellshawe Road Monday to Friday, between 8am-5pm.

The project forms part of United Utilities’ wider commitment to the largest investment in water and wastewater infrastructure in a century, with more than £13 billion being spent over the next five years to enhance rivers, lakes, and bathing waters across the North West.

Residents are being encouraged to find out more at a drop-in event being held on Tuesday 9 December, 4pm– 6.45pm at the Alsager Civic – Lawton Suite, 3 Lawton Road, Alsager ST7 2AE
