United Utilities invites residents to find out more about its Windermere plans
United Utilities is hosting a drop in event for residents to find out more about two of its projects to improve water quality in Windermere.
The company is investing £200m across the catchment over the next four years to reduce storm overflow operations and improve the quality of treated wastewater that is returned to the environment.
Plan are set to be submitted to the local authority in the coming months for two projects at its treatment works in Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey.
Subject to planning permission, at Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey, works would include the installation of FujiClean units. Originating from Japan, it is an innovative chemical-free sewage treatment process for use at smaller sites.
Residents are being encouraged to find out more at a drop-in event being held on Wednesday 15 April at Braithwaite Hall in Far Sawrey between 4-7pm.
It comes as United Utilities is making great progress on the largest investment in water and wastewater infrastructure for a century. The company is spending more than £13bn to protect and enhance over 500km of rivers, lakes and bathing waters whilst safeguarding drinking water supplies for millions of customers.
