United Utilities announces new County Business Lead for water in Cheshire

29 Aug 2025

United Utilities has welcomed a new County Business Lead in Cheshire to drive forward innovation and excellence in the county and help deliver its ambitious investment plan over the next five years to 2030.

Experienced leader, Rob Moore, will manage a team of 225 operational and support staff responsible for the entire process of collecting raw water and treating it to high standards, before it’s distributed through customers’ taps across the whole of Cheshire.

Rob’s career with United Utilities began as a graduate in 2016 and shortly after he was promoted to Operational Manager, leading both operations and maintenance staff on sites across Macclesfield and Knutsford before taking on the role in Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

In 2024 he was promoted to County Business Lead for wastewater in Lancashire, managing a similar sized team responsible for the sewers and wastewater treatment facilities across the county – ultimately working to reduce the number of times that storm overflows operated in the area, while simultaneously ensuring the treatment facilities that process wastewater were operated and maintained to the highest possible standards.

Rob added: “I’m really pleased to be back working in Cheshire, and we have a fantastic and experienced team working hard to deliver an excellent service for the county. That includes exciting plans to deliver our mains renewal programme, which will upgrade key parts of our water infrastructure so that we can continue to supply great drinking water to our customers for years to come. You’ll be seeing more of us and our delivery partners out and about as we carry out this work for our region.

“We’ll also be using new and innovative ways to target leakage and water efficiency, cutting down on leaks and keeping water in the pipes; for example, we’re already using new satellite technology that allows us to scan vast areas of our network and pinpoint areas of concern for our teams to find and fix leaks faster, more efficiently and with less disruption to our customers. We’re also committed to carrying out our work while being mindful of our carbon footprint, and we’ll do this by working closely with dedicated partners to minimise any environmental impact of our work.”

“We have an exciting future ahead of us, and I look forward to keeping you updated on our progress in Cheshire while we work towards our shared vision to create a stronger, greener and healthier North West.”
