United Utilities and local partners join forces to clean up the River Mersey
United Utilities joined forces with local volunteers from the Mersey Rivers Trust, Costain and members of the public to organise a successful litter‑pick event along the banks of the River Mersey.
During the event, volunteers removed a discarded pram, multiple tyres and bags of rubbish, including plastic waste, glass bottles and other debris.
Esther Taylor, Biodiversity Strategy Development Manager at United Utilities, said: “It was great to have the support of our partners at the Mersey Rivers Trust and Costain, as well as members of the public, to help clean up part of the River Mersey. We’ll continue to look for other opportunities to do more. We want to thank everyone who joined us on the day and made a positive difference for the River Mersey and the wider environment.”
