Sewer upgrade work starts in Burneside

United Utilities has started work to upgrade the sewer network in Burneside.

The company is replacing around 820 metres of sewer to install new larger diameter pipes as well as installing a new pumping station with storage capacity.

The work has started this week and will be carried out in phases through to summer 2027. 

As a result of the first phase of works on Burneside Road, a diversion is in place until 28 May 2025.   The diversion will take vehicles along Windermere Road (A5284), the A591 and Hollins Lane.
