Businesses told to be wise about water usage
Water company United Utilities is urging businesses to be careful with their water use.
With temperatures expected to reach highs of 30 degrees this weekend in some parts of the region, the water company is reminding businesses to continue to use water wisely, reduce any unnecessary use and save wherever possible.
United Utilities is also offering a free water efficiency audit worth over £750 to organisations including schools, care homes, leisure centres, public sector and small businesses to help them save water all year round. Typically, these audits can save a business 5000 litres a day and can be booked at Free water saving visits | United Utilities.
Grant Batty, Water Services Director at United Utilities said: “Whilst the weather looks to be changeable with some rain forecast in the next few weeks, we are still asking all our partners and customers to continue to avoid wasting water, reduce any unnecessary use and save wherever possible.
“We continue to move water around our vast integrated network to where it is needed and we have increased resilience in the network, bringing new water resources into supply and adding a further 75 million litres a day into the system.
“We’re also finding and fixing more leaks than ever before. Thanks to a strong response from customers, we are fixing 900 leaks a week, more than we have ever repaired before in that timescale and we are at our lowest ever level of leakage.
“These are just some of the actions we are taking to help safeguard water supplies and protect the environment.”
