£5m project to improve water quality in Knutsford

Residents in Knutsford are invited to a public exhibition on Monday 2 June to learn more about United Utilities’ plans to improve water quality in the area.

The North West’s water company is investing £5m to reduce the number of times that the storm overflow at Bexton Road operates during heavy rain, which will improve water quality in the nearby Serpentine Water.

The plans include setting up a new, larger underground storm tank, kiosk and chamber.  Teams are expected to be on site from July2025 with the project completed by September 2026.

An area of land is being used within the grounds of Knutsford Academy to complete the project.  The company is working with school to mitigate the impact of the work.

The public exhibition will take place on 2 June, 4pm-7pm at Knutsford Academy, Bexton Road, WA16 0EA
