United Utilities appoints new Business Lead for Cheshire to deliver major network improvements

United Utilities has appointed a new County Business Lead for Water in Cheshire to lead its ambitious investment plans.

Experienced leader Matt Pritchards has joined United Utilities from Severn Trent Water and will manage a team of 225 operational and support staff responsible for treating and supplying high-quality drinking water to customers across Cheshire.

Matt's remit includes a significant mains renewal programme that will upgrade 159km of water mains, helping to reduce the risk of bursts and leaks while creating a more resilient network.

Matt started his career as an engineering apprentice at Severn Trent, working across both water and wastewater programmes before progressing into operational leadership roles with responsibility for water treatment services in the western part of the company's region.

Matt said: "I'm excited to join United Utilities and continue working in a fast-paced sector alongside some brilliant and talented people.

"In Cheshire, we have an established and experienced team working hard to keep customers' taps flowing.

"We have an exciting future ahead of us and I look forward to sharing our progress. Together, we can help deliver our vision of a stronger, greener, and healthier North West.
