We have identified that a third party has connected into our water network. Whilst tests are ongoing to prove the quality of the water and we complete our investigations, as a precaution we are advising 107 properties in the Heath Charnock area not to drink tap water.
Whilst we work to get your supply back to normal the do not drink notice applies to 107 properties in the following post codes
PR6 9JH, PR6 9JL, PR6 9JN, PR6 9JR, PR6 9JW, PR6 9LB
Not all properties in these post codes are impacted.
For a precise list of properties on The Asshawes please click here
For a precise list of properties on Chorley Road please click here
If your property is NOT on either of these lists then you can continue to use your water as normal.
This advice remains in place until United Utilities advises you otherwise.
During this time we ask that you:
DO NOT drink your tap water
DO NOT use your tap water for cleaning teeth or washing wounds or preparing food
Boiling will not purify the water
You can use your water for general washing, bathing and toilet flushing
This evening we are delivering bottled water to customers doors. Affected homes will receive a card advising of the Do not drink notice through their letter box tonight. We are setting up an information hub for anyone who has any questions, our team will be on site from 8am Saturday 31st January.
We will be taking additional samples over the weekend.
We understand this is inconvenient but please do not worry as we are here to help you and provide advice. We are keeping our website updated and issuing proactive messages.
We ask that you only use United Utilities’ communications as your source of information, rather than rely on social media posts that can potentially cause some confusion.
We are really sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and we thank you for your patience.
