Our Action Plan for Cumbria

From investing in the infrastructure Cumbria needs to boosting the health of the county’s rivers, we’re playing our part in building a stronger Cumbria. We’re out every day and night, 24/7, 365 days a year, rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck in to deliver our Action Plan for Cumbria.

Delivering great quality water

As a region known for its natural beauty, we need to find innovative ways of developing new water infrastructure that makes our supply more resilient – but does so in a way that protects that beauty.

We’ve invested millions of pounds in cutting-edge projects, so that we can continue to deliver great quality drinking water to homes and businesses across the county. Highlights include a £300 million project to create a state-of-the-art water treatment works and pipeline to provide customers in West Cumbria with high quality water, and upgrades to key sites including Watchgate.

Heavy rainfall across the North West may be causing flooding in some parts of the region. Our teams are out working hard across the region helping our customers who have experienced sewer flooding in their homes.

If you’re experiencing flooding from a road or footpath and there is no evidence of sewage (toilet paper etc.) please report this to your local council, who are responsible for highways drainage flooding.

Please be aware that our phone lines are much busier than normal, take a look at our flooding page for further advice on what to do if you’re affected by flooding.
