St Michael's Pumping Station

Reduce spills into the River Wyre

The station struggles during wet weather, which can lead to diluted sewage spills into the River Wyre from our outfall off Rawcliffe Road, opposite Catterall Farm. We are currently planning to start work from Spring 2026, with a duration of up to 18 months to complete.

To reduce spills into the River Wyre, our project will involve:

- Installing an underground storage tank in the private field next to St Michael’s Pumping Station. Raising the existing manhole located in private land opposite Catterall Farm, Rawcliffe Road.

- We’ll be creating a new permanent access route into the site using the existing field gate opposite 1A Rawcliffe Road.

- Installing a new vent stack and kiosk within our land near to the existing pumping station. The contractor will have a temporary carpark within the work area and no construction vehicles will park along Rawcliffe Road.
