We’re making improvements to the water quality in St.Helens and reducing spills into Sankey Brook

The essential work will ultimately safeguard the environment, by reducing the number of times that the overflows operate.

We do understand construction activity can be inconvenient and this improvement work will temporarily impact use of part of the park, a foothpath and recreational ground for the community. A new underground storage tank will be constructed within Sunshine Park, Gaskell Street. Part of the park, public footpath and the recreational ground will be unavailable during construction which we anticipate will take 12 months to complete from May 2025.

During construction

There will be an increase in vehicles and machinery which will generate noise, dust and vibration. Our onsite team will do all they can to keep this to a minimum. We’ll also make sure the local community are regularly updated and our customer representatives will be available to answer any queries throughout the programme of work

On completion

The footpath and recreational ground will be re-opened. You may notice a new control kiosk and manhole covers which will not impact the use of facilities. We really appreciate your patience and understanding.
