Building a stronger, greener and healthier St Helens
Improving water quality in Sankey Brook
We’re investing a combined £10 million on two storm water storage tank projects in St Helens which will help to reduce the number of times that storm overflows operate and contribute to improving water quality in local waterbodies.
We’re constructing a new underground storm water storage tank within Sunshine Park, Gaskell Street. There will be some areas of the park and footpath which will be temporarily unavailable while the work takes place. The work is expected to be completed in summer 2026.
We're also carrying out similar project near Hawes Avenue in St Helens which will help to improve water quality into Black Brook.
