Building a stronger, greener and healthier St Helens
Helping to improve water quality in Black Brook.
We’re investing a combined £10 million on two storm water storage tank projects in St Helens which will help to reduce the number of times that storm overflows operate and contribute to improving water quality in local water courses.
What will the work involve?
We’re constructing a new underground storm water storage tank in land off Hawes Avenue, St Helens. The work is expected to be completed in summer 2026 and will help to improve water quality in Black Brook. A similar scheme is also being carried out at Gaskell Street.
