Improving water quality in the River Fender

We’re investing £3 million to reduce storm overflow operations and contribute to water quality improvements in the River Fender.

What will the work involve?

We’re installing an underground storm water storage tank within the grounds of Upton Park and expect the work will be completed in autumn 2026

During construction, there will be an increase in vehicles and machinery which will generate noise, dust and vibration along Fordhill View. A site compound will be established within the Magenta owned car park at the end of Fordhill View, so this area will not be accessible for the duration of the work. Whilst a section of Upton Park will be inaccessible, we are working with Wirral Borough Council to ensure as much of the park is kept open for public access.

On completion, you may notice two new control kiosks and manhole covers which will not impact the use of the park.
