Building a stronger, greener and healthier Cheshire

The planned works include:

  • Installation of a new inlet weir to increase the site's flow-to-flow treatment capacity from 4.1 litres per second to 7.5 litres per second.
  • Installation of duty standby return pumps to transfer flows from the storage tank back to the treatment process.
  • Installation of a new hunting penstock to help control flows to full treatment.
  • Installation of two new 60m³ underground storage tanks, providing additional storm water storage capacity.
  • Upgrade of the site's telemetry system from 2G to 4G. Utilising the existing 6mm screening equipment on site.
  • Retention of the existing overflow pipe to the River Weaver, with no modifications.

These improvements form part of the Storm Overflow Price Control Deliverable (PCD) programme to meet 300m³ of equivalent storage capacity to help reduce storm overflow impacts and improve river water quality.
