This work will improve the sites efficiency and provide resilience within the water network. This extensive investment will improve the quality of drinking water which is then transported through the Vyrnwy aqueduct to homes and businesses in Cheshire and Merseyside. We're also modernising the aqueduct as part of our Vyrnwy Aqueduct Modernisation Programme.

The upgrade activity involves:

• The construction of 20 new treatment processes
• The installation of around 5000 new assets
• The integration of around 2000 existing assets
• Decommissioning around 1000 redundant assets
• Upgrading power supplies

Completion of the upgrade activity is expected in February 2027, when the site will be capable of treating and putting into supply around 210 million litres of water per day.
