Building a stronger, greener and healthier Northwich

Helping to improve water quality in the River Weaver. We’re making improvements to the sewer network in Northwich, carrying out a £2.3 million project on School Lane , which will help to reduce storm overflows into the River Weaver. 

What will the work involve?

  • We're constructing a new underground storm water storage tank, storm overflow and screen to help reduce the number of times storm overflows operate in the area and improve water quality in the River Weaver. 
  • The project is due to be complete by the end of Spring 2026 and forms part of a total £21 million investment into Northwich and Frodsham, with similar projects to improve the River Weaver that will be carried out through to 2030.
