We’re making improvements to Barrow
We are working to improve water quality in Barrow by reducing storm water spills. At Ferry we are preparing the way for a new underground storage to complement the existing pumping station.
We’re proposing to build a new 18m diameter storage tank which can hold around 3,000m3, approximately the size of 5 standard leisure centre swimming pools! This storage tank will store storm water when we have heavy rainfall, preventing our system from being overloaded with excess water.
Upon completion, the site will be mainly landscaped back to grass and all existing features will be reinstated. The access track from the Ferry Hotel to the Bowling Green requires widening to ensure sufficient access for construction traffic, as well as the Ferry Hotel still being able to use their car park. Any alterations to the access track will be fully reinstated.
