In a pioneering project we're working alongside Cadent Gas to upgrade water and gas supply pipes as part of the same programme, which will future proof both networks pipes in De Trafford Drive and Hemfield Road.

There will be barriers around our working locations and parking restrictions in place which will move along as our work progresses through the upgrade stages. We’ll try to maintain as much safe access as possible to driveways and do all we can to keep disruption to a minimum.

We’ll be using machinery to dig and install the new pipes which will generate some noise and vibration.

*The team working on the water pipes will be installing additional equipment where possible. Some further work may need to take place in spring 2026.

Filling in the holes and tidying up: We’ll restore the holes and tidy up the work area as we move along. Once all the work is completed, we’ll remove all our barriers and equipment and carry out a final tidy up before we leave.

Proposed timetable**

Water programme is planned as follows:

Hemfield Road:

• Section 1 (A-B) - Install new pipe from Hemfield Road at the junction with Belle Green Lane to the junction with

De Trafford Drive:

• Section 2 (B-C) Install new pipe from the junction with De Trafford Drive to o/s 36 Hemfield Road.
• Section 3 (C-D) Road crossing to install connection point o/s 36 Hemfield to opposite side of road.

De Trafford Drive:

• Section 4 (B-E) Install new pipe from junction of Hemfield Road to o/s 11 De Trafford Drive
• Section 5 (E-F) From o/s 11 remainder of cul-de-sac.

Gas programme is planned as follows:

Hemfield Road:
• Section 1 (A-B) - Install new pipe from o/s 12 Hemfield Road to the junction with De Trafford Drive.

De Trafford Drive:
• Section 2 (B-E) - Install new pipe from junction of Hemfield Road to o/s 26 De Trafford Drive.
