Our long-term plans for Crummock, Chapelhouse and Overwater reservoirs

As Thirlmere Reservoir is now used to supply homes and businesses around the towns of Egremont, Cockermouth and Whitehaven, these waterbodies are no longer used for water abstraction.

We're developing plans which would involve the removal of infrastructure and have been working with key stakeholders including the Environment Agency, Natural England, Lake District National Park Authority (LDNP), National Trust, landowners, local authorities and other interest groups.
