Building a stronger, greener and healthier Crewe

Improvements to water quality in the River Weaver

We're carrying out upgrades at Crewe Wastewater Treatment Works which will support healthier conditions in the nearby River Weaver. The £34.4 million involves the installation of innovative technology to reduce ammonia and phosphorous in the treated wastewater.

The technology, usually found in the nuclear sector will see the installation of cooling towers within the existing site boundary to help the site run a more efficient and upgraded treatment process and help prepare the site for future demand and population growth.
