We’re making improvements to Ambleside Wastewater Treatment Works
We’re committed to improving the health of Windermere with a multi-million pound programme of upgrades which will improve treatment standards to further reduce phosphorus entering the lake and create more storm water storage capacity to help reduce spills.
Following on from our investigations over the past months, we’re proposing to build two new above ground storage tanks in Miller Field. The tanks would be 27 metres wide and 5 metres high, and would hold around 4,500m3 of water - that’s about the same as two Olympic size swimming pools.
We have submitted a planning application for the proposed improvements and our team have mobilised to undertake further preliminary activities prior to the main construction work starting in spring 2026.
