A fire hydrant has been used by the fire service to tackle a fire in the area, leading to a loss of water on the network and a disruption to our water mains. When this has happened, historical sediments that have built up over time in the water pipe have been disturbed causing discolouration to your water.
We know it doesn’t look nice but don’t worry, it’s unlikely to be harmful and will settle down again with time. You can help by letting your cold water tap run at a slight trickle until your water runs clear again.
All customers supplies should now be running clear. Please take a look at our discoloured water page for more information.
