Appearance of your water

The quality of drinking water in the North West is excellent, but on rare occasions tap water may become discoloured, appear cloudy, or seem to have very small particles in it.

This can be due to a range of reasons, including metals such as iron, copper or lead which can come from the pipes the water travels through, or simply from trapped air.

We have provided information below to help you identify what could be causing this problem, reasons why it is happening and what you can do to help resolve it.
