We're so sorry you've had to come to this page. We understand the unpleasant and distressing impact flooding causes.

Please call us on 0845 746 2200 so we can help you. You'll also need to contact your insurance company straightaway for advice.

Please be reassured that although wastewater flooding can leave a muddy deposit behind, research shows that the risk to health is very small.

If you've been flooded inside or outside your property, we will:

  • Remove flood water
  • Collect and remove solid waste
  • Clean and disinfect all areas affected by the flood with the exception of carpets, furniture or curtains

Unfortunately, we're unable to clean up waterlogged garden areas, since these must be allowed to dry thoroughly first. We aim to answer all your questions about flooding online but if not, please call us on 0845 746 2200 so that we can help you.

If you see flooding in the road

If you see water flooding into the road and it appears to coming from a grid in the street, it is likely that there is a problem with the public sewer. We will send someone out to investigate this.

However if rainwater cannot drain away into a grid in the street (for example, blocked with leaves) please call your local council to report this.

If you see flooding from rivers or streams

If the source of your flooding is a watercourse such as a river or stream, please contact the Environment Agency.
