Metered customers
If you have a water meter, your bills are based on how much water you've used and how much wastewater we've taken away to clean. It also includes standing charges.
So, here's how your charges are worked out:
First of all, you should know that we measure water in cubic metres.
Water used
This charge is for the amount of water you've used in cubic metres (1 cubic metre = 1000 litres of water)

Wastewater collected and taken away
This charge is for collecting and cleaning up your wastewater, based on the amount of water you've used in cubic metres. Most of the water we supply to your home goes down the sewer for us to treat and return safely to rivers and the sea.
There's also a fixed charge for dealing with surface water and highway drainage.
Standing charges
Finally, we add a cost on to water and wastewater charges for all customers to cover things like dealing with enquiries and maintaining your meter.
Use less, save more
The less water you use, the lower your bill is going to be. See Save water, save money for lots of offers, hints and tips to avoid waste.
