Multimillion pound investment in Staveley will cut storm overflows and reduce flooding
Overview
With a target to reduce the number of sewage spills into the River Kent and prevent future instances of flooding in the village, our three-tier project is well underway.
Solution
We are bringing improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Works at Staveley to enable more flows to be treated and to a higher standard. We are busy onsite now installing new equipment at the works.
We are also upsizing the sewer in Main Street and Gowan Terrace which will help to prevent sewer flooding in the village. A new pipeline will be installed across the River Kent also. This work is set to begin in May.
A surface water separation scheme will begin in Spring, on Brow Lane, and will prevent flooding.
Outcome
All our projects in Staveley are due for completion by Summer 2027.
This project is being delivered as part of our Big North West Upgrade to make the northwest stronger, greener and healthier.
