Knutsford waterway set to improve
26 Feb 2026
Overview
A £5 million investment project will see the installation of a new underground storm water tank. The tank is designed to capture excess water during heavy rainfall.
Solution
At Bexton Road, on an area of land within the grounds of Knutsford Academy, the new storage tank will help to reduce the number of times storm overflows activate. As the building work is taking place on the school site, we have been working closely with the Academy to showcase the investment plans to the local community; engage with students about the ongoing works and highlight future careers options in science, engineering, technology and mathematics.
Outcome
As part of the wider Big North West Upgrade, the storm water tank will improve water quality in local waterway Serpentine Water.
