Do monitors under maintenance/review record any information?
Monitors labelled as under maintenance/review may sometimes still record storm discharge activity. For example if data is not available in the live map because the monitor does not have sufficient mobile signal, then storm discharge activity is still recorded locally. Once mobile signal is restored the live map will update with the latest data and will also send any historical data.
However, if a monitor is not transmitting data because it is broken, data may not be recorded locally. In this case, historical data is recovered from the device where possible and repairs are carried out as quickly as we can.
We aim to get monitors under maintenance working again as soon as possible. The 'operability' of each monitor is reported to the Environment Agency annually.
