Adjustment to charges

Deregistration from the date notification is received from the retailer and in accordance with process C6 of the Operational Terms

In the event that UUW’s domestic retail team are already billing the customer (there has been a double charge) an allowance will be applied up to a maximum of 6 years.

If due to demolition with evidence on VOA charges allowed up to a maximum of 6 years.

Incorrect Rateable value or assessed charges against a SPID

If the change results in an increase in charges – applied back up to a maximum of 6 months or the date the revised rateable value applies if within the last 6 months.

If the change results in a reduction in charges – applied up to a maximum of six years from date of contact

Meter missing from a service component Charges raised from the date the meter was identified and a reading taken providing this was within the last 6 months
Crossed Meters or charges raised on incorrect meter

Overcharge – Allowance applied up to a maximum of six years from date of contact

Undercharge – The difference in volumetric charges will be raised from the date the market record is updated

Meter incorrectly measuring consumption or stopped Charges adjusted from the last but one meter read from the date a meter test is requested by the retailer or the retailer is informed by us of the intention to exchange the meter
Incorrect meter detail in market (e.g. number of meter digits) Volumetric charges are applied back up to a maximum of 6 months from date the market record is updated
Leakage allowances 

Where leaked water does not return to sewer – the volumetric sewerage charges will be allowed to a maximum of 4 months prior to the repair for monthly read meters, and 13 months prior to the repair in all other cases providing the leak is repaired within two weeks of detection, there has been no negligence in allowing the leak to occur and the application is received from the retailer within 12 months of the repair date

Mixed property where leak on supply only serves household part of the property - Water and foul sewerage up to a maximum of 6 years in line with Leakage code of Practice

Non return to sewer allowances Charges adjusted from date of receipt of a valid application from the retailer
Surface Water Drainage claims 

Charges adjusted up to a maximum of 6 years from receipt of a successful claim from the retailer

Neighbouring properties identified as not connected as part of the investigations should also be adjusted up to 6 years from the date they were identified

Incorrect site area charging band

Correction resulting in an increase to charging band - Correct site area charging band applied from the date that the market record is updated

Correction resulting in a decrease in charging band:

  • Correct charging band applied back to a maximum of 6 months
  • If the site has been identified in the wrong location, the banding should be adjusted up to 6 years from the date of contact
Site area charges - concessionary schemes

Places of worship, scout and guide groups - tariff will be applied from the date the property became eligible up to a maximum of 6 years

Community amateur sports club (CASC), Sea Cadets, Village Hall and Community Centres - tariff will be applied f back to a maximum of 6 months or date of eligibility if later

Cemeteries and Local Authority parks – tariff will be applied from 1 April 2016

Change of Tariff Charges adjusted from the date of receipt of a successful application from the retailer

Retailer fails to notify us that property is occupied

Charges will be raised back to date of occupation or up to a maximum of 6 years.

Normally up to 6 years.  We may and have the right to go back further
