How our work may affect you
We understand roadworks are inconvenient
Thank you for your patience while we carried out our first season of work along the A592. Our teams have been busy completing other elements of the project at Windermere Wastewater Treatment Works during the peak tourism period and will be starting our second season of work on the A592 in November 2017.
We recognise the sensitivity of the location where we’re working, so by carrying out our highway work out of season we hope this will minimise the impact for residents, businesses and tourists.
Season 1: Completed November 2016 – April 2017
Season 2: November 2017 – April 2018
Season 3: November 2018 – April 2019
Our season 2 work
There will be a number of closures (PDF 290 KB opens in new window) which will be required as part of our season 2 work.
Ferry Nab car park
We’re carrying out an initial element of our season 2 work within Ferry Nab car park. This will start in September 2017. The car park will remain open, however there will be a reduction in available car parking spaces until this work is completed in October 2017.
We’ll be starting our highway work on the A592 in November 2017.
Lane closure: Traffic lights will be in place at the following locations which will be removed in time for the Christmas period. During this work width restrictions will be in place.
- The Orchard to Moor Crag
- Old Mill Crescent to Beech Cottage
- Outside Cannon Close to south of Middle Entrance Drive
- Ferry Nab Lane to outside Windermere marina
Road closure: After the New Year break there will be a road closure in place until Easter 2018 between the Beech Hill Hotel and Moor Crag. During the road closure the same diversion route used in season 1 will help direct traffic around our working area via the A590/A591
Glebe Road car park
From January 2018 we’ll be carrying out connections at our pumping station in Glebe Road car park. For safety we need to close the entire car park until Easter 2018. We understand this will be inconvenient and we’re working with our stakeholders to provide alternative local disabled bays and supplementary parking.
Making way for the new sewer pipeline
Other utilities will also be working during November/December to move underground pipes and cables on the A592.
