How our work may affect you
Members of the project team will be at the Tourist Information Centre on Glebe Road. We'll be there each Wednesday in January between midday and 3pm to provide further information, or answer any queries you may have about our project.
We understand roadworks are inconvenient
Thank you for your patience while we carried out our first season of work along the A592. Our team are now carrying out our second season of work.
We recognise the sensitivity of the location where we’re working, so by carrying out our highway work out of season we hope this will minimise the impact for residents, businesses and tourists.
Season 1: Completed November 2016 – April 2017
Season 2: November 2017 – April 2018
Season 3: November 2018 – April 2019
Our season 2 work
We'll need to put traffic management (map pdf 288KB opens in a new window) in place to carry out our season 2 work. This will involve traffic lights and a section of road closure on the A592 from January until Easter 2018, along with a full closure of the Glebe Road and Beech Hill car parks. There will also be traffic management at the junction of the A5074/A590 affecting vehicles wishing to turn right onto the A590. A clearly signed diversion will be in place.
Our highway work on the A592 started near Moor Crag.
There will be traffic lights at the following locations which will have a 10mph speed restriction in place around our working areas.
- Moor Crag to Greenacres (November - December)
- Ferry Nab Road (junction A592/B5285) to outside Windermere Marina (January 2018)
- Outside Cannon Close to south of Middle Entrance Drive (January 2018)
- Old Mill Crescent to outside Beech Cottage (January 2018)
We have a section of road closure between the Beech Hill Hotel car park and Moor Crag until Easter 2018. The same diversion route used in season 1 will help direct traffic around our working area via the A590/A591. The closure will be lifted during the February half term school break and then put back for the remainder of our season 2 work (Easter 2018).
Beech Hill car park
We're using the car park to store our equipment which means the car park will be closed from November 2017 until 30 March 2018. The picnic area will remain open to pedestrians, although the public toilets will be closed.
Glebe Road car park
From January 2018 we’re carrying out connections at our pumping station in Glebe Road car park. For safety we need to close the entire car park and we're planning to have it reopened for Easter 2018. We understand this will be inconvenient and we’re working with our stakeholders to look at the possibility of securing alternative nearby parking.
Making way for the new sewer pipeline
Other utility companies will also be working to move underground pipes and cables on the A592.
Thank you for bearing with us while we carry out our work.
