Improving our wastewater network in Bowness-on-Windermere
Over the last few years we've completed several projects which have reduced the risk of storm water flooding on Glebe Road and contributed to significant environmental benefits to Windermere.
To help provide further water quality improvements, we've carried out a project to install a new 6.5km wastewater pipeline from our pumping station in the car park at Glebe Road, along the A592 to Windermere Wastewater Treatment Works near Tower Wood. We're also completing a programme of upgrade work at Windermere and Ambleside Wastewater Treatment Works.
To help minimise disruption for the community and road users, our work on the A592 was programmed to take place during the quieter winter season over a three year period. Our team have now completed the installation of the pipeline and the road closure has been lifted, so vehicles can travel between Bowness and Newby Bridge.
We understand how inconvenient road closures can be and would like to thank the community and road users for your patience. We're still continuing with our upgrade work to install new tanks at our treatment works site and carry out improvements at our pumping station, located in the car park at Glebe Road.
