United Utilities is shortlisted for Northern Power Women award
United Utilities has been shortlisted in the Large Business category at this year’s Northern Power Women Awards which will be held on 7 March 2017 at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester.
The award will go to the business with more than 1000 employees that has made a significant contribution to the recruitment, development and retention of its female talent.
A third of United Utilities’ Executive Board are women and 37 per cent of its total workforce.
Karen Hughes, from United Utilities, said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award. We actively recruit, develop and retain female talent and diversity is high on our agenda. As a customer facing business, it’s important to have a workforce representative of our region.
“We use women as the face of our apprentice and graduate campaigns to attract top female talent into a variety of roles. In 2016 we saw our female applicants continue to outperform male applicants in our recruitment process,” she added.
United Utilities’ Women in UU network has more than 360 active members and has been set up to support, mentor and develop, inspire and promote everyone in UU. It’s a forum for women, and men, to share skills and promote opportunities.
