Environmental Infrastructure Scheme

Our Environmental Infrastructure Scheme offers a 90% reduction in infrastructure charges for developers building water efficient homes that include measures to reduce water usage to 100 litres per person per day (lppd). A similar reduction on wastewater charges is also available for properties that do not connect surface water drains to existing sewers. Developers can save up to £523 per new plot when building a water efficient home that discharges surface water sustainably.

Watch our videos below to find out more about how we are working with developers and supporting sustainable development for a greener North West.

Creating a more sustainable future

We’re working in partnership with housing developers to ensure that the properties built today can withstand the challenges of tomorrow by creating water efficient and sustainable homes for a more resilient North West.

Story Homes – sustainable drainage

Our Developer Services team is working with housing developers across the North West to improve the health of the region’s rivers through the introduction of sustainable drainage systems which divert rainwater away from sewers by allowing it soak away naturally.

Barratt Homes – strategy and compliance

Through our Environmental Infrastructure Scheme, we’re working with housing developers, including Barratt Homes, to adopt the latest innovations in water efficiency and sustainable drainage to create sustainable homes for the future.

Keepmoat Homes – sustainability

Our Developer Services team worked in partnership with Keepmoat Homes – they’ve saved costs through our Environmental Infrastructure Scheme by building water efficient homes and customers will benefit from lower bills.
