What does the work involve?
We're now carrying out work to refurbish the third and final major water pipeline in Huyton. The work will be carried out in sections and involves engineers inserting a new plastic pipe within the original Victorian cast iron water main, to create a secure new lining.
We expect this work will be completed in early 2014.
To access the main and complete this work safely we will need to dig large holes which may be around 18 metres in length and up to 3 metres deep. We will need to introduce some lane closures, traffic management and road closures around our working areas. We're working closely with Knowsley Borough Council, Liverpool City Council and the local community to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.
It's extremely unlikely that we will need to interrupt water supplies while we're carrying out this work, but if this is necessary we will write to you and let you know the date and duration when your water supply will be off. All our work is taking place on the water main so we won't need to gain access to your property at any time. Don't worry we'll ensure that residents and business that may be affected are kept regularly updated.
