Every year, thousands of litres of hot fat and cooking oil are poured down kitchen sinks.
When the fat cools, it goes hard in the sewer and can cause blockages.
The blockage stops sewage from flowing along the pipe and the build up eventually spills out where it can.

You can help to stop this nightmare by collecting all your kitchen fats and oils in a container, letting it cool and scraping it out into the bin.
