Environment & Community

Environmental improvement is core business for United Utilities and responding to climate change is one of our main priorities. We know our operations have an impact on the community and the environment and we strive to minimise this and support the areas we work in wherever we can.

There are many examples of where we have achieved this, often in partnership with other organisations. Our investment in wastewater treatment contributes to cleaner rivers and coastlines. More recently our investment in renewable energy generation from sewerage gas and energy efficiency is helping reduce harmful emissions and stem climate change. Importantly our work on biodiversity is helping support rare species and protecting habitats.
