Further design work by our contractors has identified the need for a series of changes to the scheme that received planning permission in December 2016.
The most significant of these changes is the proposal for a 1.2km long tunnel section at Castlerigg with temporary access off the A591.
This has been developed in response to the damage from Storm Desmond meaning that a section of the original pipeline route adjacent to the River Greta is no longer constructable.
A planning application covering these additions and amendments to the approved scheme has been submitted to the Lake District National Park. Details can be viewed via the Planning updates 2017 drop down list or via the planning application search on the Lake District National Park website (ref 7/2017/2217)
