Last call for Vlogging sensation to help wipe it out

One new YouTube vlogging sensation will get their hands on £250 PC World vouchers, earn their school a £1,000 donation and become one of United Utilities youth ambassadors.

The mission, is to create a two minute video blog to appeal to young people and spread the word that wipes are bad news for loos.

United Utilities who is behind the competition regularly urges its customers to vanquish the risk of blocked drains and sewers.

Rose Francis, United Utilities’ campaigns manager, said: “Even though we have a multi-million pound cleaning programme to try and keep our sewers clear, sometimes the first we know about a problem is when homeowners are impacted by flooding.

“Things like wipes don’t just disappear down the u-bend and dissolve – they clump together and cause havoc in the sewers. All too often we see the misery caused to people when blocked sewers have caused their homes and gardens to flood with sewage.”

The company is looking to attract over 500 schools to take part in the competition, which will give students the opportunity to work with a large organisation and help tackle a real issue.

Rose added: “Tapping into the teenage market, an age-group we’re always trying to target is key for us as a company to get the next generation enlightened to the issue of flushing the wrong things down the loo.  And the best way to get our key messages across in a way that will appeal is to engage with students across our region.”

You need to be quick.  The competition closes 20 October. To get involved, register your interest on United Utilities website:
