Information for community amateur sports clubs

Following the publication of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, we are delighted to tell you that a concessionary scheme has been introduced for community groups who experienced large increases in their bills due to the introduction of site area charging.

The good news is that community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) have been identified as eligible for our concessionary scheme.

This means that, from April 2011, your annual charge for surface water drainage and highway drainage will be capped at band 1, our lowest site area charge, instead of being calculated upon the actual measurement of your drained area. For 2011-2012 the annual charge for surface water drainage and highway drainage services based upon band 1 will be £100.30.

This is the next step in ensuring that all our customers pay a reasonable amount for the services received from us.

If you have previously completed a CASC application form and successfully met our criteria, you don't need to do anything as you will automatically be moved onto our concessionary scheme. We've already amended our billing system and this charge will be shown on your bill for 2011-2012.

However, if you have not applied in previous years but would like to do so this year, please complete the CASC application form and send it back to us at the address shown on the form. Please note: if you successfully meet our eligibility criteria then your charges will only be amended for the charging year in which the successful application is received. Charges cannot be backdated to previous charging years.

If you have any further questions regarding surface water drainage and highway drainage charging, please contact our team on 0800 074 0171.
