United Utilities can help you ensure that your liquid wastes are disposed of in line with increasingly tough environmental legislation, leaving you to concentrate on managing your business.
As a leading provider of industrial waste management services, you can be confident that your specialist requirements are in the hands of a reputable and responsible company with access to the latest waste management facilities.
We offer flexible options and environmentally friendly, cost effective solutions for the treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous liquid waste - all in complete compliance with the highest waste management standards. Our wastewater treatment works offer a variety of treatment options, including full biological and anaerobic digestion.
Full treatment
Liquid wastes receive treatment to remove solids and biological treatment to remove carbonaceous matter and ammonia. The resulting purified liquid effluent and biosolids are disposed using formally regulated methods.
Anaerobic digestion
Effluents can be blended with the biosolids from aerobic treatment to produce a cost effective disposal option for high COD wastes. This mixture is broken down biologically to produce methane that is burnt on site for power generation.
