As part of our continuing commitment to improve the supply and quality of water to our customers, we are currently replacing the Victorian water mains that have served Warrington for more than 100 years.

The work we are carrying out will replace the old cast iron pipes with new plastic ones and will improve the quality of your water, strengthen the overall reliability of the network, reduce leakage and improve water pressure.

The latest phase of our water improvement scheme in the town centre area will take place on Wilson Patten Street and Mersey Street and will take approximately 7 weeks to complete. Work will begin on 17th May on Wilson Patten Street near the entrance to Bank Quay station and will progress towards Bridge Foot - finishing up on Mersey Street.

Due to the position of the water mains, Wilson Patten Street will become one way with the flow of traffic heading from Bridge Foot towards Bank Quay Station. Some of the roads within the town will also become one way.

During our work access to all businesses in the area is unaffected, and they are open for trading as usual. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. A diversion route map can be downloaded here.

We have worked closely with Warrington Borough Council to carefully plan this work so that disruption will be kept to a minimum. However we know that road works are a pain and that some disruption is unavoidable. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this essential work may cause and reassure you that the benefits will be worth it in the end and Warrington's homes and businesses will continue to have quality, reliable water today and in the future.

If you need any further help or information please phone us on 0845 746 2200, quoting project number 90021533.

We're doing all we can to prevent leaks, but if you see one in the road/footpath, please report it so we can sort it! http://t.co/rCCAO2Kr over 24 hours ago via web
