When we launched our campaign in 2008 we partnered up with some of our region's press to spread the word, including the Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Daily Post and Echo, Blackpool Gazette and Lancashire Evening Post. With our partners we persuaded scores of restaurants, local authorities and businesses across the region to choose tap water over bottled.
Heavyweight political backers of the initiative have included Gordon Brown, David Cameron and former Environment Minister Phil Woolas.
In its first year our campaign scooped the Best PR award at the Green Awards - a national awards scheme that recognises the top environmental marketing campaigns of the year. It also won the Best Use of Media Relations award in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) North West regional awards at Manchester's Hilton hotel. The campaign achieved the Gold standard - the highest level possible.
