Setting up a Direct Debit is the most convenient way to pay your water bill - and you get a £5 annual discount too.
About Direct Debit
Direct Debit is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to pay your bill and it saves you money because we'll reduce your annual bill by £5. Direct Debit allows your bills to be paid automatically, so there's no need to worry about remembering to pay them, it also makes it easy for you to budget, spreading the cost of your bill over the year if you wish.
You'll need the following information before setting up your Direct Debit.
1) Your bank account details, with the following information:
- Name of account holder
- Account number
- The account sort code
2) Your customer account number
- The customer account number can be found on your bill.
- If you were not responsible for United Utilities water charges at your previous address, you will need to register your information with us before we can give you an account number. Please click here to move in online, or call us on 0845 746 2222 (properties with meters) or 0845 746 2211 (properties without a meter).
3) The frequency of payment you would like to set up:
Customers not on a meter can pay:
- Annually
- Half yearly
- Quarterly
- Monthly for 10 or 12 months
- Four weekly
- Fortnightly
- Weekly
Metered customers can pay:
- Variable direct debit when your bill is sent (every 6 months for residential customers)
- Quarterly
- Monthly for 12 months
- Four weekly
- Fortnightly
- Weekly
Once we have received your instruction, we will set the Direct Debit up with your bank within the next 14 days. You will also be notified by post confirming the details of your plan.
We will aim to collect your payment on your preferred date or within three working days after this date.
