At United Utilities, we connect around 70,000 new properties every year for our water, electricity, gas and multi-utility customers.

Our connections business is the most experienced multi-utility connections provider of gas, water, electricity and other services.  The business is divided into four key areas: regulated connections for electricity, gas and water, as well as our competitive multi-utility infrastructure business.

In our regulated businesses, we undertake activities related to the provision of new connections on behalf of the respective asset owners - Electricity North West, United Utilities Water and Northern Gas Networks - as part of their duty under their licences to provide connections to their networks.  Our skilled teams deal with our customers through providing designs and quotations for the work required: liaising with each asset owner before undertaking the construction activity to build the asset.

We carry out a wide range of activities including:

• Connections on new builds for domestic and commercial customers
• Gas meter alterations
• The provision of additional capacity to existing customers requiring a new connection
• Street lighting and traffic management
• Connections to mobile telephone masts

In our multi-utility infrastructure business, we work with some of the UK's foremost developers on a diverse range of projects from housing schemes to new build premises and multi-million pound retail developments.  Projects include the Trafford Centre, the City of Manchester Stadium, the Lowry, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and London's Kings Cross development.
